Vanellus indicus – インドトサカゲリ

The open space surrounding the lake is adorned with well-maintained trees, providing excellent subjects to capture through photographs. After visiting there several times, I noticed that this particular species thrives in the area. Hemixos cinereus – ハイイロヒヨドリ
Scientific Name: Hemixos cinereusEnglish Name: Cinereous BulbulObserved in: Dairy Firm Nature ParkLocal Status: Rare non-breeding visitorObserved Timing: Feb-22 キムネビタキがDairy Firmに出ていたその日、ほど近くにある有名な木に現れたのが当種ハイイロヒヨドリ。その後、キムネビタキには何回か出会っているが、当種をシンガポールで見たのはこれっきり。国外ではMalaysiaのFraser’s Hillの中腹で見かけた。Dairy Firmの近くにはシンガポール最高峰164mのBukit Timahがあるためか、比較的標高の高い場所を好む種が現れることがある。 When the Green-backed Flycatcher was at the Dairy Firm, this bulbul also appeared nearby. Since then, I have encountered the Green-backed Flycatcher several times, but this is the only time I have seen the Cinereous Bulbul in Singapore. Outside of the country, I saw it halfway up Fraser’s Hill in Malaysia. Perhaps because Bukit Timah, the highest peak in Singapore at 164m, is located near the Dairy Firm, some species that prefer relatively high altitudes often appear there.

After repeating this routine several times, I discovered a beautiful species that is predominantly green in color. This is the leafbird, and Singapore is home to three different species of them. In 2022, they were spotted on the famous mulberry tree at Dairy Firm, but the area became disrupted in 2023, making it difficult to observe the birds. The photo shows a female leafbird blending seamlessly into the background.
Geokichla sibirica – マミジロ
Scientific Name: Geokichla sibiricaEnglish Name: Siberian ThrushObserved in: Dairy Firm Nature ParkLocal Status: Uncommon MigrantObserved Timing: Dec-22 木の上で何かの実を啄んでいたマミジロ。当地では珍しいツグミ科の鳥だ。Dairy FirmのWallace Trailの裏手の方で時折見られている。この場所にはルリコノハドリなどもいるのだけれど、高い木の枝が混み合っているのですごく写真が撮りずらい。 It was pecking at some fruit on top of the tree. Thrush family is a rare in Singapore. It is occasionally seen in the back area of the Wallace Trail at Dairy Firm. In this location, there are also species like the Blue-winged Leafbird, but the dense branches of the tall trees make it quite challenging to take photographs.

Scientific Name: Geokichla citrinaEnglish Name: Orange-headed ThrushObserved in: Singapore Botanic GardenLocal Status: Rare MigrantObserved Timing: Feb-22 当種も図鑑をめくっていると目に飛び込んできた鳥だった。しかし説明書きを読んでみると、ほとんど鳴かずに地べたにいる鳥であると書いている。そんなのを見つけ出すことなど、ほとんど不可能じゃないか。。と思っていると、Singapore Botanic Gardenでの目撃情報が出てきた。その翌年も（機会は逸したが）、そのほど近い場所で見られている。もう少しちゃんとした写真を撮り直したい。 While browsing the guidebook, I came across a species that is found in Singapore. However, it is described as dwelling on the ground and rarely chirping, making it almost impossible to spot. While pondering the likelihood of seeing such a bird, I suddenly noticed that it appears at the Singapore Botanic Garden. In 2023, it returned to the same place, but unfortunately, I missed it. I hope to have another opportunity to capture a decent shot of it.

Muscicapa dauurica – コサメビタキ
Scientific Name: Muscicapa dauuricaEnglish Name: Asian Brown FlycatcherObserved in: AnywhereLocal Status: Common MigrantObserved Timing: Migratory Season ありふれたヒタキです。ですが、大きな黒い目と可愛らしいヒタキのふわっとした感じがとっても魅力的で、何度でもレンズを向けたくなる種でもあります。当種によく似た他のヒタキの仲間もいますが、自身を持って見分けるのにはまだまだ修業が必要です。実際3枚目の写真などは目の周りの白いサークルが他の個体とは異なる感じがしたので別種なのか、、と思いました。

Scientific Name: Copsychus saularisEnglish Name: Oriental Magpie-RobinObserved in: Coney Island, Singapore Botanic Garden, Jurong Lake Garden etc.Local Status: Uncommon ResidentObserved Timing: Anytime Uncommonではないと思うのだけど、図鑑ではどういうわけかそう分類されている（Singapore Bird ListではCommon扱いになってる）。観察機会が多いがゆえに様々なシーンにであることができて愛着を感じている鳥でもある。流線形の体格も美しい。生息範囲や環境も多様であり、マレーシアのFraser’s Hillでも多くの個体を見ることができる（国外に来てまで見たい鳥ではないので流石にまたシキチョウか。。。とハズレを引いたような感じにはどうしてもなってしまう）。
Myiopsitta monachus – オキナインコ
Scientific Name: Myiopsitta monachusEnglish Name: Monk ParakeetObserved in: Pasir Ris ParkLocal Status: Uncommon introduced residentObserved Timing: Feb-23, Nov-24 鳥を飼おうとしたことがないので、愛好家の嗜好はなかなか理解し難しいが、インコは言わずと知れた人気の種である。それはきっと愛嬌のある見てくれと、色彩に富んだ種が様々いるからなのだと推察する。その中にあって、当種は鳥飼の間ではどういう位置づけとなるのだろうか。控えめの緑がなんとも奥ゆかしいが、人気順位も奥ゆかしい感じなのかと邪推してしまう。けれどもそれは、脱走後の野生では優位に働き、繁殖が成功した要因となっているに違いない。本来は南アメリカに分布する種であり、パンタナールでも観察していた。余力ができたらパンタナール編もアップロードしていきます（Bird偏重気味になるな。。。）。

Dendrocygna javanica – リュウキュウガモ

Charadrius dubius – コチドリ

Scientific Name: Charadrius peroniiEnglish Name: Malaysian PloverObserved in: Marina DriveLocal Status: Uncommon ResidentObserved Timing: Jan-22, Dec-22 襟元の黒も特徴的だけど、おかっぱみたいな髪の毛をしていた配色をしているのが、なんか昭和っぽい感じで親近感が沸く。そうした私の個人的な感情とは裏腹に、こいつらは非常に警戒心が強く、近づこうとするものならば、一定の距離を保って離れていく。そして追い詰めてしまうと翼を広げて飛び去ってしまう。じわりじわりとした我慢比べは、なんだか水中写真を撮ることにも似ている。

Ardeola speciosa – ジャワアカガシラサギ
Scientific Name: Ardeola speciosaEnglish Name: Javan Pond HeronObserved in: Bishan Ang Mo Kio ParkLocal Status: Uncommon MigrantObserved Timing: Feb-22 ほとんど毎年この場所に現れるレアバード。コサギとアオサギとアカガシラサギと当種が近くに居合わせていました。底辺に位置しているのはアカガシラサギで隅に追いやられ漁場にすら入らせてもらえません。コサギは果敢にエサ取りに来ますが、ジャワアカガシラサギの縄張りに入ると、全力で追い立てられます。ジャワアカガシラサギの方がコサギよりも背丈は小さいですが、気性は荒いようです。一方、アオサギは我関せずと悠々としており、ジャワアカガシラサギも手を出しません。鳥たちにもいろんな関係があるようです。実に興味深いです。

Estrilda astrild – オナガカエデチョウ
Scientific Name: Estrilda astrildEnglish Name: Common WaxbillObserved in: Pasir Ris Firm WayLocal Status: Introduced ResidentObserved Timing: Feb-23 サハラ以南原産であるが、脱走したペットが当地においても外来種として繁殖をしている。多くの個体数が生息しているのを観察することができた。ふっくらした体型と赤色が美しくも可愛いので、手元に置いておきたい気持ちはわからないでもないけれど、その需要がこうして生態系に影響を与えている実態は、なんとも考えさせられるものでもある。

Scientific Name: Lonchura majaEnglish Name: White-headed MuniaObserved in: Paris Ris Farm WayLocal Status: Uncommon ResidentObserved Timing: Feb-23 2023年はおおよそ1か月にわたってヤマショウビンが継続的に観察され、しかも2022年に現れたYinshun Damのそれよりも撮影条件がずっと良かった。そのホットスポットに行ってみたときに初観察することができたのが当種。他にも多くのMuniaがいた。肝心のヤマショウビンは空振りした。
